1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Cambslist collects, uses, and stores personal and business data. It applies to:
- Visitors browsing https://cambslist.co.uk;
- Users submitting contact forms or business feature requests;
- Business owners, sole traders, and company representatives listed in our directory;
- Businesses we contact for business development and listing verification.
This policy complies with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR). For our platform terms and cookie disclosures, please see our Terms of Service and Cookie Policy.
2. Data Controller
The data controller for Cambslist is:
- Entity: Cambslist / Bamplify
- Location: Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom
- Email: hello@cambslist.co.uk
- Website: https://cambslist.co.uk
3. Data We Collect
A. Public Directory Data
To operate our regional business directory, we index and publish public business information from legitimate public sources:
- Business name and trading style;
- Category, services, and trade classifications;
- Physical trading address and postcode;
- Public telephone number (classified as landline or mobile);
- Public business email address;
- Official website URL and public social media links;
- Business hours and verified badges.
Sole Traders vs. Corporate Entities: Information about incorporated companies (Ltd, PLC, LLP) is corporate data, not personal data under UK data protection law. Data identifying sole traders, partners, or named individuals (e.g. firstname.lastname@company.co.uk) is personal data. We apply the same high data handling standards to all records.
B. Inquiries and Submissions
When you contact us via our contact form or email:
- Name and job title;
- Business email address;
- Telephone number;
- Message content and submission timestamps.
C. Technical and Analytics Data
When you visit the site, we collect non-identifying technical data:
- Anonymized IP address and browser type;
- Referring URL and pages viewed;
- Session identifiers and device classification.
For details, review our Cookie Policy.
4. How We Source Business Information
We do not fabricate, purchase, or guess contact details. All directory entries are verified against authentic public sources:
- Official business websites and contact pages;
- Companies House public registry records;
- Official regulatory registers (e.g. DVSA, RCVS, FCA, CQC);
- Google Business Profiles and verified Google Maps locations;
- Established UK commercial business directories (e.g. Yell.com).
We review telephone numbers against the UK National Numbering Scheme to separate corporate landlines from personal mobile lines.
5. Lawful Bases for Processing
Under UK GDPR Article 6, we process data under the following legal bases:
| Purpose | Category of Data | Lawful Basis (UK GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Publishing local business directory listings | Public business contact details, addresses, trades | Legitimate Interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) to provide a regional business discovery platform for Cambridgeshire residents. |
| Business development and listing verification outreach | Public business email and telephone | Legitimate Interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) and compliance with PECR Corporate Subscriber Rules. |
| Responding to contact form inquiries and removal requests | Name, email address, inquiry text | Contract / Pre-contractual steps (Art. 6(1)(b)) and Legitimate Interests (Art. 6(1)(f)). |
| Site security, spam prevention, and server caching | Technical logs and IP addresses | Legitimate Interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) to maintain platform reliability and security. |
| Compliance with legal and regulatory obligations | Records of suppression requests and legal notices | Legal Obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)). |
6. Business Development and B2B Outreach Policy
We periodically contact local Cambridgeshire businesses to verify listings, suggest category updates, or offer featured directory placements.
PECR Compliance
- Corporate Entities (Ltd, PLC, LLP): Under Regulation 22 of PECR, B2B marketing emails to corporate entities do not require prior opt-in consent. We provide a clear, one-click opt-out in every message.
- Sole Traders and Partnerships: Under PECR, sole traders have protections similar to individual consumers. We do not send marketing emails to personal addresses without prior consent, unless the address is published as the primary business contact point.
- Telephone Preference Services: Before placing telephone calls, we screen numbers against the Corporate Telephone Preference Service (CTPS) and Telephone Preference Service (TPS).
- Instant Suppression: If you ask us to stop contacting you, we add your email address and phone number to our suppression list within 1 calendar week.
7. Business Owner Rights and Listing Removal Policy
We respect the choices of business owners. For detailed guidance, please review our Business Listing & Removal Policy:

8. Data Sharing and Third-Party Processors
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data.
We share data only with third-party service providers who process information on our instructions under written data processing terms:

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data (Article 15);
